Tottenham Hotspur fans are excited over reports that they will trigger Lorenzo Pellegrini’s release clause at Roma.
Calcio Mercato say that Tottenham are ready to pay £25 million, which would leave Roma powerless to reject their offer.
If Spurs were to have a bid accepted that could be a blow to their former manager Jose Mourinho.
Mourinho is now at Roma, and if Tottenham were to steal a key player away from him, that would surely sting.
But Spurs fans are keen to see the Italian international brought to North London.
Big signing
If Pellegrini was brought to Tottenham it seems likely that he would partner Pierre Emile Hojbjerg in midfield.
That could leave question marks for the likes of Harry Winks and Moussa Sissoko, who finished last season out of favour.
It would also leave some doubts over where the likes of Oliver Skipp, Tanguy Ndombele and Giovani lo Celso would fit.
Pellegrini’s arrival would likely highlight the new influence of Fabio Paratici, given his strong links with the Italian game.
