Jose Fonte has raved about West Ham United striker Michail Antonio on talkSPORT (9:26am, October 5, 2021).
Fonte played with Antonio at West Ham, and the Lille central defender has been stunned by the way Antonio has starred in the striker’s role for the Hammers.
The Portuguese defender said: “Incredible. First of all, after the injuries that he had, to come back and still be at this level, it just shows what a specimen he is.
“He is a great athletic. Since he moved to the number 9 position, he has been been incredible.”

Important player for West Ham
Antonio is not a natural striker, but the Jamaica international has been superb in the role.
The 31-year-old played as a right-back and as a winger before, but now he is playing as a striker.
And he is doing extremely well.

The West Ham no. 9 has scored five goals and provided three assists in six Premier League appearances for the Hammers so far this season.
The former Nottingham Forest and Sheffield Wednesday star has scored one goal and given one assist in two Europa League games this campaign.
Antonio scored 10 goals and gave five assists in the league last season, and scored 10 goals and provided three assists in the league in 2019-20.
For West Ham to have a successful season, Antonio will have to be on top of his game and has to bang in the goals.
