Marko Arnautovic scored for West Ham United against Chelsea in the Premier League last weekend.
Arnautovic has struggled to play well and play consistently well for West Ham since his move from Premier League rivals Stoke City in the summer transfer window.
The 28-year-old winger has been criticised for his underwhelming performances for the Hammers, but the Austria international turned on the style last weekend.
Arnautovic scored the only goal in West Ham’s 1-0 victory over London rivals Chelsea at the London Stadium in the Premier League last Saturday afternoon.
The former FC Twente star’s overall performance against Chelsea was very encouraging, and his teammate and central defender Fonte has spoken highly of him, and so has former West Ham star Joe Cole.
“It’s well known that Marko has been under criticism of late but I’ve seen the change in his attitude, how he’s been working, how he wants to fit in, be part of the team and please the fans and everyone in the club,” Fonte told Sky Sports about Arnautovic.
“I’m delighted for him, he’s a great guy to have in the dressing room and he has a lot of talent so he can be massive for us.”
Cole told Sky Sports: “He’s a top player and I’ve seen a change him just over the last three or four games, he’s working so hard.”
Meanwhile, West Ham manager David Moyes has admitted that he was not aware of the club’s policy of not signing older players.
West Ham co-chairman David Sullivan recently told The Guardian that the club will sign young players in the January transfer window, not players who are 32.
Moyes told The Sun: “Is that right? I brought in Sylvain Distin from Portsmouth at probably that age after we sold Joleon Lescott to Manchester City and Sylvain was brilliant for three or four years.”
