Jose Enrique has praised Diogo Jota for his cameo in Liverpool’s Champions League win last night.
The Reds kicked off their European campaign with a narrow 1-0 win at Ajax.
Nicolas Tagliafico’s own goal separated the Dutch giants and Liverpool on a nervy night in Amsterdam.
Jota, who joined the Premier League champions last month, enjoyed an encouraging European debut under Jurgen Klopp, who gave him half-an-hour after withdrawing Sadio Mane.
And the former Wolves winger’s speed was causing the hosts all sorts of issues, even if his final ball let him down at times.
Nevertheless, former Liverpool left-back Enrique has admitted that he loves Jota ‘more and more’ with each and every appearance, backing him to be an ‘incredible signing’.
Here’s what the Spaniard said on Instagram:
Jota has an abundance of quality but he has a long way to go before he justifies his £45 million price-tag.
He undeniably has a great chance of being the ‘incredible signing’ that Enrique has predicted but, as mentioned, it was just as much of a frustrating cameo as it was a successful one last night.
End product is what separates the wheat from the chaff in wide roles and time will tell whether the Portuguese has what it takes.
