Jose Enrique has given his verdict on Thiago Alcantara potentially joining Liverpool.
Speculation is rife that Thiago will join Jurgen Klopp’s side this summer after refusing a new deal with Bayern Munich.
According to The Independent, Liverpool staff members Andreas Kornmayer and Mona Nemmer have already encouraged Klopp to push ahead with signing the 29-year-old.
ESPN claimed on Friday that the Reds will only get Thiago if one of their big-name players leaves Anfield, however.
Here’s what the club’s former left-back Enrique made of the potential transfer on Instagram:
Enrique is right in saying that Thiago is a ‘top player’ – but where would he fit in at Liverpool?
Klopp already has plenty of top-drawer midfielders at his disposal, like Jordan Henderson, Gini Wijnaldum, Naby Keita and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain.
Not to mention Fabinho, who plays a little deeper than the players above, but the German boss still has more than enough quality available.
And a move for Thiago just doesn’t make a huge amount of sense unless one of them leaves.
