Jose Enrique says he would still prefer to have Luis Diaz at Liverpool over Dejan Kulusevski, despite the Tottenham star producing more assists than any other Premier League player since his debut back in February.
Kulusevski, who turns 22 later this month, has now laid on five assists in 10 Premier League appearances – as well as scoring two goals. He delivered the perfect cross for Son Heung-min to score Tottenham’s third on Sunday.
Spurs eased past Newcastle despite going 1-0 down, to win 5-1. Ben Davies, Matt Doherty, Emerson Royal and Steven Bergwijn also found the back of the net – the latter a player Jamie Carragher said lacks consistency.
With Kulusevski producing more assists than any other Premier League player, the natural comparison was Liverpool’s Diaz – given Spurs tried to nab the new Reds ace ahead of Jurgen Klopp. But Enrique has had his say.
The ex-Liverpool left-back says he would still have Diaz at Anfield over Kulusevski – despite the latter costing less, and being over three years younger. Enrique feels Diaz suits Liverpool’s system better.

Enrique on Diaz, Kulusevski: Surely Tottenham man is better option?
Tottenham tried to lure Diaz to London before Liverpool stole in. The Colombia international is said to have cost the best part of £40million, while Kulusevski will work out cheaper – even after a loan fee is made permanent.
Both are strong, physical wingers. Diaz perhaps boasts more South American flair, trickery – while Kulusevski is more of a powerhouse and better in the air. Defensively, both are incredibly hard working.
But given his stats, his cheaper price tag and that he is three years younger than Diaz – you would have to say Kulusevski has been the better buy. A player that Antonio Conte branded “fantastic” after Sunday’s 5-1 win.
