Jose Enrique has said that the £88.7 million (€100 million) price tag for Liverpool target Randal Kolo Muani is extortionate.

The Frenchman, who has been tipped to become a ‘future great’ by Lothar Matthaus apparently sought an enquiry from Jurgen Klopp’s side over his signature in the summer of 2023. While the ‘robust’ Eintracht Frankfurt forward rejected any exit in January, he could join a European powerhouse before the start of next season.

However, Jose Enrique clearly thinks that the price tag set for Liverpool target Kolo Muani is beyond ridiculous.

Jose Enrique thinks Liverpool target Kolo Muani is very overpriced

The 24-year-old is having a superb season in Germany, registering an impressive 14 goals and 14 assists in all competitions so far. The highly-rated attacker even scored the winner for France in their World Cup semi-final win against Morocco, as he successfully managed to put himself on the map.

However, Jose Enrique thinks that the reported £88.7 million price tag set for Liverpool target Randal Kolo Muani is way higher than it should be, tweeting, “The prices for some players right now…Don’t know the player but [it] is crazy.”

That’s just the name of the game

While the former Reds left-back may well be right as the ex-Nantes goalscorer is not an elite player in European football, prices for any player with hype around their name are sky-high, as seen with Mykhaylo Mudryk and Enzo Fernandez’s moves to Chelsea.

The same is the case for Randal Kolo Muani, as Liverpool will have to pay a pretty penny to secure his signature, despite the fee being arguably extortionate, as Jose Enrique has clearly said.

Ultimately, what matters is how much any new big-money signing elevates the side for years to come, which will be the hope with the versatile operator if he comes to Anfield.
