Jose Enrique has said on Instagram that Liverpool should sell Joel Matip in the summer transfer window.

The former Liverpool star is delighted to see the Reds sign defender Ibrahima Konate from RB Leipzig today.

The Spaniard believes that Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has too many centre-backs now, and that he should sell Matip, adding that the Cameroonian is prone to injuries.

Liverpool do have a lot of centre-backs on their books at the moment.

Virgil van Dijk, Matip, Konate, Joe Gomez, Rhys Williams and Nathaniel Phillips are the options for manager Klopp.

Oh, let’s not forget Ben Davies, who joined Liverpool from Preston North End in the January transfer window and has yet to make an official appearance.

Matip does have injury problems and is also 29 years of age.

Konate is likely to be Van Dijk’s main partner next season, and Matip may have to play as a back-up.

Two factors need to be considered regarding Matip and a potential sale.

The Cameroonian is injury prone. Other clubs know that and may not be willing to pay what Liverpool would ideally like.

Anther thing to consider is that Matip is very experienced, and Klopp would need that to reclaim the Premier League title from Manchester City next season.
