Mo Salah ended his open-play goal drought on Tuesday night with a wonderful brace for Liverpool in a 4-0 win over Manchester United. But Jose Enrique does not believe the Egyptian was at his best at Anfield.
Salah, 29, last scored from open play on February 19 in a 3-1 win over Norwich. He has since netted three penalties for the Reds, but his open-play drought is now over – after a wonderful brace against Manchester United.
Having created Luis Diaz’s tap-in to open the scoring, Salah controlled a gorgeous Sadio Mane pass to shoot past David De Gea. It was 3-0 when Mane finished a Diaz pass superbly, first time, with his left foot.
Salah made it 4-0 with a dart beyond the defence, found by Diogo Jota, and finishing with a chip – via a deflection. But despite his goals and his beaming smile post-match, Enrique does not believe he was at his best.

Enrique on Salah: Liverpool star’s stats were right up there with best
Salah has one job to do in the team and that is to score goals. His second job, is to create them. Of course, he is responsible for offering the first line of the press and contributing to play. But goals are his main offering.
Two goals and an assist in a 4-0 win over United is a job well done. Perhaps the one area in which Enrique is alluding to, is the amount of times he lost the ball. WhoScored claim it was six times, more than any other.
