Mo Salah has transformed himself into one of the best players in the world since his move to Liverpool two years ago.

Jose Enrique has claimed that ‘everyone’, including himself, has been surprised by the impact Mo Salah has had since moving to Liverpool.

The former left-back stated that Salah’s previous experiences at Chelsea, where he ‘didn’t do well’, may have contributed to people being taken aback by his performances in recent years.

The 27-year-old moved to Anfield in 2017 when Liverpool paid Serie A side Roma £34 million for his services [BBC Sport], and he hasn’t looked back since that day.

Speaking to Football Centre on Sky Sports News (16/10/2019), former Reds favourite Enrique lauded Salah as an ‘amazing’ player.

On whether he was surprised by Salah’s impact: “I think it did to everyone,” Enrique told Sky Sports News. “He was in the Premier League before and he didn’t do well for Chelsea.

“I always say, you are young, to come to any league is difficult, but to come to the Premier League it is even more difficult. But the season he had with Roma before coming to Liverpool, he was amazing. And now he is an amazing player, he scores a lot of goals and he has been key for Liverpool.”

There have been a number of players who were at Chelsea but left in the manner in which Salah did, as they are now proving their worth just like the Egyptian.

Manchester City’s Kevin de Bruyne is another example, as he is regarded as one of the best attack-minded midfield players in the world, whilst Salah is now regarded as one of the best forwards.

During his time at Anfield, Salah has played 116 games for the Merseyside club, scoring 77 goals and supplying his teammate with 32 assists along the way [transfermarkt].
