Baxter rejoined Everton after a drugs ban last summer, before completing a move to Oldham last week.

Jose Baxter has told Oldham Athletic’s official website that it was a “no brainer” to leave Everton and rejoin Oldham Athletic after more than two years in the wilderness.
The 26-year-old has signed a one-year deal with the League Two club after spending the last 12 months with Everton’s Under-23 side, following the expiration of his drugs ban.
Baxter had been given a 12-month drugs ban, and was brought back to his boyhood club Everton last summer in order to allow him to train with the reserve side under David Unsworth.

The deal was set to expire at the end of this month, but Oldham have swooped to capture the former Sheffield United youngster on a free transfer – almost five years after leaving Boundary Park to move to the Blades.
“The best football I played was with this club so it’s always going to have a place in my heart. Once I knew they were interested and I knew that I needed to come out and get some games then it was always the club to come to,” Baxter said.
“Once I knew the club were interested and I could come back and see the fans then it was a no brainer.”

During his previous time with Oldham, Baxter scored an impressive 17 goals from 50 league and cup appearances as well as adding eight assists.
He will now look to get his career back on track with the fourth-tier side, who are managed by Richie Wellens.
