Rangers are keen on signing Mexican talent Jose Abella, according to Spanish newspaper AS.
Abella is a 23-year-old right-back who plays for Rangers boss Pedro Caixinha’s former club Santos Laguna.
He played under Caixinha at the club and is a big fan of the current Gers boss, who handed him his debut back in 2013.

Speaking to ESPN last year, Abella hailed Caixinha for the impact he had on his career and said he credits him with his success so far.
He said: “The fundamental thing was the way he lives games, the passion in each action … it helped me a lot.
“The training was always based on intensity and exercises with the ball. I learned a lot and will be eternally grateful.”

Abella could be an interesting signing for Rangers and is potentially affordable, with transfermarkt valuing him at £2.5 million.
He also holds a Spanish passport, which prevents work permit issues from complicating a move.
Abella has not yet represented Mexico at senior level but played for the under-23 team at the Olympic games last summer.
A move to Rangers would raise his profile and give Caixinha a player he knows he can trust. Santos Laguna might not want to sell him, but a transfer could be a key part in Rangers’ rebuilding process.
