Luhukay has hinted at a summer of change for Sheffield Wednesday.

Jos Luhukay has vowed to ‘go deep and analyse’ the problems that have held Sheffield Wednesday back this season, in the hope of finding ‘good solutions’ for the new campaign.
Wednesday began 2017-18 with hopes of a third successive promotion challenge, but find themselves 16th in the Championship and only recently (all but) free from relegation danger.
Injuries have played a major role in the Owls’ struggles, with Luhukay robbed of the services of at least 10 key players for a prolonged spell.
And after admitting that Morgan Fox, Joost van Aken and – potentially – Keiren Westwood will join Morgan Fox, Sam Hutchinson, Sean Clare, Kieran Lee, Ross Wallace and Steven Fletcher in not playing again this season, the Wednesday manager told the club’s Facebook page on Thursday: “We analyse every week our situation with the medical team. But I think for the new season, for the future, we must change some things to prevent the problems of this season from happening again.

“At the end of the season we must go deep and analyse what the problems might be and maybe find solutions so that we can have a good preparation and pre-season for the start of the Championship.
“It is important for the whole squad to come to the new season with maybe some different situations.
“First, we must ensure that in the last few weeks the team makes good progression. It’s important that we have good results. The confidence and the trust is growing and we must try to take it to the end of the season.
“Then we must analyse everything. From everything that I have seen in the last five months, we must speak with each other, with the medical team, with my training staff and we must find good solutions.”

Wednesday have seven senior players out of contract in the summer and are likely to have several under contract who they wish to offload, with an eye on Financial Fair Play.
Asked if he has been informed of his budget for the coming campaign, Luhukay added: “First, it’s important to have a good team, which we have now.
“I must work on things that are possible for the club and not have things in my head that are not possible. It is important that we do things so that everyone knows: okay, they do a good job and they have a good structure for the future.”
