Some Sheffield Wednesday fans were expecting their side to strengthen in Hunt’s position.

Sheffield Wednesday are unlikely to sign a replacement for Jack Hunt during the summer transfer window, manager Jos Luhukay has suggested via the Sheffield Star.
Hunt was sold to Bristol City for £1.6 million earlier this month, after three years as Wednesday’s first choice right-back.
It was a transfer that few Owls fans saw coming, and left several expecting Luhukay to strengthen in Hunt’s position – with West Ham’s Sam Byram a popular choice.
But the Dutchman’s comments imply he is happy with Wednesday’s existing options of Liam Palmer and Ashley Baker.
“It is a question of what we have in that position,” Luhukay said of the club’s decision to sell the now Bristol City player. “We saw against Lincoln in the first half Ash Baker play in that position. We saw Liam Palmer in the second half. We have options in that position.

“It was a great chance for Jack Hunt personally. He signed a longer contract.
“Everyone was in agreement over Jack changing to Bristol.”
Sheffield Wednesday, who appear to be focused on outgoing transfers as they strive to remain Financial Fair Play compliant, are reported to have prioritised the signing of a new centre-half before the end of August.
It is possible, however, that a new right-back could still arrive at Hillsborough, for example if one of Baker or Palmer – whose contract expires next summer – is also allowed to leave for whatever reason.
