Sheffield Wednesday manager Jos Luhukay says the club have not yet decided on which players they want to keep on board for next season.

Luhukay took charge of the Owls in early January and has yet to see 10 of his first team players in competitive action due to an injury crisis at Hillsborough.

Wednesday have five senior players out of contract at the end of the campaign, while the futures of their two loan players are also uncertain.

Resurgent striker Atdhe Nuhiu is one of those reaching the end of his deal, but when asked if he wants to keep the Kosovo international next season, Luhukay told the Owls’ official Facebook page: “I’m very happy with Atdhe, in the near future we will decide how our squad (will look) for the new season.

“We have now the time and I must look every day and every game at the performances of all the players and then we must make at the end a decision about the future for our team.”

Wednesday have tied up contracts for three of their emerging talents within the past week, but a deal for Sean Clare remains unsigned.

Asked for an update on talks with the midfielder and his representatives, Luhukay replied: “At this moment I think there’s no agreement, (otherwise) we would have said. So we must have a little bit of patience.”

The Dutchman added that his priority remains the football side of things, especially with four games to come in the next 12 days.

“Of course, my focus must be on the team and also for the game we have tomorrow,” he said.

“The rest we must have a little bit of patience but we are also working on the future of the club and the team of course.”

As well as Nuhiu and Clare, Glenn Loovens, Daniel Pudil and Ross Wallace are also out of contract in June.
