The Napoli ace is a reported transfer target for Manchester United and Liverpool.

Napoli's French defender Kalidou Koulibaly (L) and Napoli's Italian midfielder Jorginho celebrate at the end during the Italian Serie A football match SSC Napoli vs AC Milan on November 18,...

Manchester United target Jorginho’s agent Joao Santos spoke to reporters last night about his client’s future, and admitted that the Red Devils have ‘strong interest’ in the Napoli ace, as quoted by Italian media outlet Calcio Mercato, potentially signalling that they lead their bitter rivals Liverpool in the chase for his signature in the summer.

The 26-year-old deep-lying midfielder has been linked with moves to both United and Liverpool, with the Daily Star claiming that the Premier League clubs view him as the ideal summer signing.

Santos discussed the potential of his client moving away from Naples in the summer, and admitted that Jose Mourinho’s side have shown strong interest in the Brazil-born Italy international, as quoted by Italian media outlet Calcio Mercato:

“Manchester United have strong interest in Jorginho. My client is a good kid, he is focused on fighting for the league title with his club and playing for the national team. If a player like this isn’t on the radar of big clubs like Manchester United then something is wrong.”

Would Jorginho be a good fit for United though?

The 26-year-old is a wonderful passer of the football, and is an excellent reader of the game.

He is at his most effective when deployed in the deep-lying midfield role, from where he can dictate the tempo of the game, and this makes him the ideal replacement for the soon-to-be retired Michael Carrick.

According to Transfer Markt, he is valued at £25.2 million, and that would represent fantastic value in today’s ludicrously inflated transfer market.
