Chelsea midfielder Jorginho has told BBC Sport that Marcelo Bielsa’s Leeds United are a “tough” team.

Jorginho made the comments about Leeds after playing against them at Stamford Bridge in London on Saturday.

Chelsea won the Premier League game 3-2.

Thomas Tuchel’s side needed a late controversial penalty to pick up all three points against Leeds.

Jorginho verdict on Leeds United

Jorginho said on BBC Sport: “It was very important to have these three points. We had a tough game, Leeds are a tough opponent but we deserved the win. The last-minute goal was just amazing. The whole stadium felt so good.”

Compliment

In our opinion, Jorginho’s comments about Leeds are a compliment to Bielsa’s side.

They show just how much Leeds are admired by rival teams in the Premier League.

You could see on Saturday that Leeds were giving Chelsea a run for their money.

Yes, Chelsea won, but we cannot ignore the fact that the defending European giants needed a controversial late penalty to do so.

Leeds remain in relegation trouble, but their overall performance against Chelsea in London was very encouraging.

In our view, if Leeds are able to get better defensively, then they should be fine this season.

There have been injury problems for the Whites this season, and that has badly affected them.
