Jorge Masvidal has come out in support of Dana White and the UFC, pushing back against some of the recent criticism directed at the promotion.
Ronda Rousey, who faces Gina Carano on May 16 in a Netflix event, has been vocal about her issues with the company. She’s used her platform to call out the UFC while also claiming that her fight is the biggest event of 2024.
Masvidal doesn’t see it that way. He pointed out that an event scheduled for May 17 on the White House lawn could feature major names like Conor McGregor and doesn’t think Rousey vs Carano measures up in terms of significance.
Jorge Masvidal responds to Ronda Rousey’s comments on Dana White and the UFC

Jorge Masvidal, who often shares his thoughts on the fight world through his ‘Death Row MMA’ YouTube channel, has addressed Ronda Rousey’s recent remarks about Dana White and the UFC.
“Her eyes, bro,” he said. “Her nose, her teeth like what type of demonology is she on, bro? This is spooky, man. I know Ronda was a hell of a fighter at one point but she looks spooky, I seen that interview and I was spooked out.
“I don’t know what’s going on with Ronda. But Ronda’s never been the best on the mic to tell you the truth. She just says things that are weird. Her taking shots at Dana, it’s like, Dana made you. Dana literally hand-walked you into the league and opened a lot of doors for you.”
It is worth noting that Rousey regularly heaps praise on White while insisting that some of the issues facing UFC are due to his influence being diluted since its sale in 2016 to WME – then later rebranding to Endeavour – which ultimately led to TKO Group after merging with WWE.
Masvidal dismisses the hype for Rousey vs Carano
Rousey has been vocal about her UFC return, claiming she was overlooked and unfairly treated despite her role in helping build the promotion. The UFC Hall of Famer says she was never fully appreciated for her achievements, but Masvidal sees it differently.
“I know she’s the one that did the accolades and fought, got in that cage and kept what she killed,” Masvidal continued. “But she’s just going at the UFC stuff so hard. For her to say things like the UFC is not making fights people want to make but her fight is the one people want to see?
“I guess she’ll prove us all wrong when we see the numbers come back from Netflix. But I don’t think too many guys are excited about two chicks who are no longer in their prime fighting… I love Gina Carano, I think she’s a hell of a star who opened up the doors for people like Ronda and Amanda Nunes.
“She was like the first superstar for women so I always have nothing but respect and love for Gina. Then Ronda obviously blew it out the gate, took the UFC into another stratosphere as far as popularity goes and all that.
“But I think they’re tooting their own horn a little bit too much… This is like ten years later and people don’t really care for that too much… We’re going to see if I’m right or wrong, I’m not trying to hate on that fight at all because I’m sure a lot of people are going to tune in.”
