Rangers beat Celtic and moved on to level points with their Old Firm rivals last time out.

Jorg Albertz has told the Daily Record that he is confident Rangers can beat Celtic to the Scottish Premiership title this season, after Steven Gerrard’s men beat Celtic last time out.
Ryan Jack’s first-half strike – which deflected past Craig Gordon off of Scott Brown – was enough to win the match for Rangers, pushing them on to 42 points and level with their Old Firm enemies.
A loss would have seen Celtic go six points clear of the Gers, as well as boasting a game in hand at the top of the Scottish Premiership. Instead, the Rangers victory has ignited a title race.
Former Rangers star Albertz reckons the Gers can do one better than providing competition to Celtic, stating that he reckons Gerrard’s side can go the whole way and topple Celtic.
“I had a good feeling about this one. I fancied Rangers to get a result and it was the most competitive Old Firm game in years. It was an outstanding performance. They played without fear and got the rewards,” Albertz said.
“When you win it can really lift a team. Beating Celtic has given them a huge boost for the rest of the season. I can now see them winning the league. History suggests a lot of times the team that comes out on top at New Year goes on to become champions.
“Rangers will now have something they have not had for a long time – belief. They have been up at the top of the league all season but now they know they can beat Celtic.”

Celtic remain favourites with Brendan Rodgers in charge, having won all seven trophies on offer since the Northern Irishman took over at Parkhead in the summer of 2016.
Rangers and Celtic players are enjoying a winter break after a gruelling start to the season that included Europa League and Champions League qualification. Both are back in action on January 19 in the fourth round of the Scottish Cup.
