Sunderland disappointed their supporters by failing to beat Bolton Wanderers at the weekend.

Jordan Willis has told the Chronicle that he still thought Sunderland’s travelling support was excellent, even though they showed some signs of dissent towards Jack Ross on Saturday.

Sunderland could only manage a 1-1 draw against struggling Bolton Wanderers, in what was a hugely disappointing result.

The Black Cats supporters chanted against Ross during the contest and booed the players off.

But Willis felt that Sunderland supporters did enough to get behind the team.

“The fans backed us right to the end, and that’s appreciated,” he said. “Hopefully, in the next game, we can give them a proper reward with a win.”

BOLTON, ENGLAND - SEPTEMBER 21:

Ross is now under serious pressure at Sunderland, even though his side have proven tough to beat this term.

The Scottish boss was regularly criticised last term, as Sunderland picked up too many draws, and that is proving to be a familiar tale again this time around.

Sunderland are currently sat in fifth place in the League One table, which is far from a disaster, but if performances do not improve then Ross could well be in borrowed time, as the voices of discontent are only growing louder.
