Williams has made the one first team appearance for Liverpool but has sidelined by injuries since a loan spell at Swindon Town.
Young Liverpool midfielder Jordan Williams has told the Liverpool Echo that he still dreams of playing for Liverpool, despite only making the one first team appearance for the club, and being sidelined through injury following a loan spell at Swindon Town.
Williams featured in a League Cup third round tie against Middlesbrough in 2014 which saw a marathon penalty shoot-out at Anfield – where he found the net – as Liverpool won the shoot-out 14-13.
He has, however, not ruled out trying to forge a career elsewhere if he doesn’t get his opportunity at Anfield after recovering from a cartilage and meniscus injury. One option could be for him to play at centre-back after getting regular game time in that role for Swindon.

The 20-year-old told the Liverpool Echo: “My dream is still to play for Liverpool. I hope my career is here but if it has to be somewhere else then I’ll try to do what someone like Conor Coady (currently at Wolves) has done and make a career elsewhere. I just want to be playing league football every week.”
Jürgen Klopp is no stranger to giving younger players their opportunity. During the second half of last season he rotated his side heavily to cope with the demands of all the competitions they were in, leading to several youngsters getting their opportunity to impress.
The most recent EFL Cup tie – which saw Liverpool win 2-1 over Tottenham – again saw some players given a run-out that wouldn’t normally get a look-in for league games.

Williams added: “The manager has given chances to loads of players. It was great to see Ovie (Ejaria) and Trent (Alexander-Arnold) play so well against Tottenham. It gives everyone belief that you can get there if you are doing well.
“Kev Stewart, who was at Swindon with me, has done brilliantly and he has deserved his chance. They aren’t the type of lads to get carried away.”
If Williams can impress at Liverpool, then he might well get his opportunity though competition for places seems to be fierce for both the first team and the second string.

It’s worth remembering that Cameron Brannagan was given several opportunities last season but has had to make do with playing football for the under-23’s. There are plenty of players vying for an opportunity to impress on the biggest stage of all.
The hope is that if players earn their chance then they will surely get them, but it takes a lot of hard work – and then good performances – if they are to break to break through.
