The Frenchman has stated he could return to the club but only under different circumstances.

Aston Villa owned midfielder Jordan Veretout has been discussing his time with the club this week.
The midfielder was one of several new recruits at Villa Park last summer who failed to make an impact at the club.
With that in mind he was loaned out to Ligue 1 side Saint-Etienne for the 2016-17 season this summer.

He has been speaking to L’Equipe as he confirmed that, despite his difficulties with the club, he enjoyed English football:
“They play and it’s quick. It’s like a basketball game. The ball goes from one camp to the other, and when it comes out, it comes back directly. It’s really a pleasure to play over there in filled stadiums.”
He went on to discuss why he decided he did not want to play in the Championship, fearing another relegation scrap. He even said he would consider playing for Villa again, if things changed:
“England came to me, and I could not refuse.
“I could have stayed in the Championship, where eight clubs can be champion and 12 could go down. But I didn’t want to relive a season in the bottom of the standings.

“All I wanted is to find fun playing and the taste of victory. Saint-Etienne offers me this challenge.
“(I could return) But in other conditions.”
The French midfielder arrived at Villa in a deal said to be worth around £8 million by the Daily Mail last summer.
But he struggled to have a major impact at Villa, as the club were relegated to the Championship as the Premier League’s bottom club.
Veretout played just 29 games for Aston Villa, with his final appearance in a 1-0 loss to Swansea City in March.
