Sheffield Wednesday travel to Sunderland in the EFL Cup first round on Thursday.

Jordan Thorniley’s Instagram story update hints at a surprise inclusion in Sheffield Wednesday’s squad to face Sunderland on Thursday evening.
With three league games in six days to follow, Wednesday are expected to rest some of their key players at the Stadium of Light.
And that could spell opportunities for a number of Owls youngsters, with Frederick Nielsen, Connor O’Grady, Matt Penney, Alex Hunt and Fraser Preston conspicuous by their absence from Monday’s Under-23 team fixture against Millwall.
But even those who did feature in that game could find themselves involved against Sunderland.
And Preslav Borukov looks a likely candidate, after the Bulgarian striker was filmed by Thorniley seemingly dining with Sheffield Wednesday’s first team.

Borukov impressed for Wednesday’s U18 and U23 sides last season, leading the Owls to offer him his first professional contract in June, although he is yet to appear in a senior matchday squad.
But with Atdhe Nuhiu and Steven Fletcher the only strikers fit to face Sunderland, that could be about to change.
Which XI should Sheffield Wednesday put out against Sunderland – does Borukov feature?
