The Jordan Spieth Experience was on full display at the John Deere Classic, with the Texan producing moments of magic and madness across the week in Illinois.
Spieth was the biggest name in the field at TPC Deere Run. Some would have hoped that returning to a venue where he has won twice before would help snap the 32-year-old out of his recent slump.
How many golfers in the current game will be remembered in 50 years time?
Who is leaving the greatest legacy?
In fact, with The Open Championship returning to Royal Birkdale this month, it seemed that Spieth had every reason to be optimistic ahead of this run.
Unfortunately, following the John Deere Classic, Jordan Spieth remains at a crossroads in his career, seemingly with little idea of what direction to head in next.
Jordan Spieth made more birdies at the John Deere Classic than Lucas Glover
Spieth finished tied for 58th this past week. It was his joint worst finish at the event, with Spieth ending up in the same spot as an amateur back in 2012.
The three-time major champion was actually tied for 10th for the most birdies across the tournament. He actually made three more birdies than Lucas Glover, who finished tied for third.

The problem was that he also made seven bogeys, two double bogeys, and a triple bogey. That triple bogey came on the fourth hole during the final round, straight after two birdies.
In fact, Spieth made every score between two and seven across the week. He posted scores of seven during both his third and final round.
The result leaves Spieth just outside the top 50 in the FedEx Cup standings.
What has happened in golf since Jordan Spieth last played in the Tour Championship
It may well be that The Open Championship helps him move up the standings. But he appears to be heading in the wrong direction at an extremely poor time, with Spieth finishing outside the top 50 on his last three starts.
It would have seemed unthinkable a decade ago that Jordan Spieth would approach the end of the 2026 season with just three major wins under his belt.
There is now a very real chance that Spieth will fail to qualify for the Tour Championship for a third year in a row.
Spieth has not made it past the FedEx St. Jude Championship in either of the last two seasons.
Scottie Scheffler was a one-time major champion the last time Spieth was even in the field for the BMW Championship. Jon Rahm was still on the PGA Tour. And Team USA were gearing up to defend the Ryder Cup trophy they had won in emphatic fashion at Whistling Straits.
The Jordan Spieth Experience may remain one of the biggest attractions on the PGA Tour. But the novelty seems to be wearing off at an alarming rate right now.
