The three-time major winner spoke to the media following his solid showing at Arnie’s Place in Orlando, where he looked more like his old self.

Asked about how close he feels to getting back to his best, Spieth sounded optimistic.

I think my consistency is going to continue to be really good and then, you know, having my best be better and better, you know, hopefully it’s a matter of months and not longer, maybe weeks“, he said.

But I definitely am very close, as you mentioned, but some of the positioning stuff, just transferring from the range onto the course, is still lagging slightly”.

“It’s a really good test this week and next week. It’s just a very stressful golf course, one that you have to trust what you’re doing. And so every solid shot, every solid round, every committed swing moves me a little bit closer”.

So hopefully, I hope it’s very soon, but play the long game, continue to try to get one per cent better every day.

Spieth’s Putting Shows Signs of Progress at Bay Hill

Spieth’s biggest concern in recent years has been his form with the putter. In 2025, he was 65th in strokes gained putting, and he finished even lower at 101st the year before.

But things looked better this week at Bay Hill, where the 32-year-old ranked 16th in strokes gained putting. He’ll take plenty of positives from that number. Here are his main stats from the Arnold Palmer Invitational:

Spieth’s game still isn’t fully dialled in, but there were enough positive signs at Bay Hill to suggest he’s heading in the right direction.

If he keeps making steady progress throughout the rest of the 2026 season, a return to winning might not be far off.
