Jordan Spieth put in a lot of work over the winter, hoping to bounce back from what was another underwhelming year.
But even with the extra preparation, 2025 didn’t bring much improvement. He struggled again to put together a consistent run of good form.
Spieth managed just four top-10 finishes throughout the season and never really looked like challenging at any of the majors.
Following another difficult year, he decided it was time to make some meaningful adjustments to his approach.
Jordan Spieth opens up about changes to his swing

Spieth is currently teeing it up at the Sony Open in Hawaii, marking the start of the 2026 PGA Tour season.
Before play got underway, Spieth spoke with the PGA Tour website about what he focused on during the break.
“I haven’t swung it well for the better part of 10 years, which is wild,” Spieth said. “You gotta feel like you’re moving something 10 inches to move it an inch.
“So then you stand over a shot, and you have a pin tucked by water right, and you have to feel like you’re going to swing in the middle of the water, and you’re just not going to do that.
“Because you’re going to do it once and it will go in the middle of the water, and you’re going to be like, ‘What the heck?’ It has to work slowly sometimes.”
Spieth went on to talk about what part of his game he’s hoping gets back to where it was more than seven years ago, and how he’s trying to make that happen.
Jordan Spieth back at his best would be great for golf
Spieth getting back to his best form would be a real boost for professional golf. There’s no denying how much he meant to the game when he was on top.
His 2015 season remains one of the most dominant runs in recent memory, which only makes his later struggles harder to watch.
He was just 22 when he won his third major, and at that time, it looked like he’d easily add more over the next decade. That hasn’t happened.
But even without recent wins, Spieth is still hugely popular. He and Rory McIlroy draw crowds wherever they go, and fans have always backed him through good times and bad.
If this swing change pays off, there’s every reason to hope that 2026 could be a turning point for him.
