Fans have voiced their frustration online following the latest news surrounding Jordan Spieth, whose form has continued to slip since his peak years.
Spieth’s struggles on the PGA Tour in 2025 were hard to ignore, and he still has not picked up a win since April 2022.
While the 32-year-old has never been shy about making changes in an effort to regain his old form, nothing so far has managed to get him back anywhere near the level he once played at on a regular basis.
Spieth’s golden period came between 2015 and 2017 when he captured The Masters, the US Open and The Open Championship. Back then, there was no doubt about who was on top of the golfing world.
He looked destined for double-digit major victories. He had three by age 24 and seemed unstoppable. But nearly eight years later, that remains his last title at that level.
Even though results have not followed him lately, and his ranking reflects that slide down to 62nd, he continues to feature in golf’s biggest events.
Fans react as Jordan Spieth joins Hero World Challenge field
Spieth’s entry into the Hero World Challenge came via a special invitation, and his participation was confirmed on the tournament’s website on Wednesday.
The decision to add the 32-year-old to the field was made by Tiger Woods, but it was not met with universal approval.
“The hero is a joke of an event. It’s just OWGR points for the boys club,” wrote one critic.
Another questioned: “Will he play a FedEx Fall event to secure the top 60? It would be a terrible look to expect/feel entitled to a SE if he doesn’t support the tour or try lock it down by himself.”
Plenty of fans echoed those comments, including one who added: “In other news, water is wet. How long can they prop him up? Embarrassing for all concerned.”
The criticism continued from there. “Would never have guessed that Spieth would get yet another invite/exemption,” wrote one fan.
Others were just as direct in their views. One post read: “Shocking Spieth got one – How many does he get this year for the elevated events?” while another simply put it as: “Tiger is desperate.”
While there are plenty who question whether Spieth deserves his spot, few would argue that his name still carries plenty of weight in golf, and that may explain why he will be playing in Woods’ event.

The event will once again be held at Albany Golf Club in the Bahamas, with 10 of the world’s top 20 players set to compete.
Scottie Scheffler will be looking to win the tournament for a third straight year. Justin Thomas, J.J. Spaun, Robert MacIntyre, Harris English, Keegan Bradley, Justin Rose, Sepp Straka, Hideki Matsuyama and Cameron Young are also set to play at Albany.
Sam Burns, Corey Conners, Chris Gotterup, Wyndham Clark, Brian Harman and Alex Noren will also be part of Tiger Woods’ event in December.
On the other hand, Spieth will be joined by special invitees Akshay Bhatia and Billy Horschel at the Hero World Challenge.
The event is not what it used to be, and it would take something drastic to bring back some excitement that once surrounded it.
Adding LIV golfers such as Jon Rahm and Bryson DeChambeau would do just that, but until then do not expect things to change any time soon.
