Former Liverpool coach Michael Beale still expects big things of Glasgow Rangers midfielder Jordan Rossiter.
Rangers looked to have pulled off a coup when they landed the 19-year-old for a knock-down price last summer, despite reported interest from several English clubs.
However, Rossiter has made just six appearances for his new employers, with a calf injury ruling him out since September.
It is not yet known when the England Under-21 international is due to return to action, although he recently appeared in a Twitter post by teammate Josh Windass which implied he was on the road to a comeback.
And according to Beale, who left Anfield to become Sao Paulo’s assistant coach last December, Rossiter’s mentality will lead him to a “very good career” when he eventually returns to full fitness.
“Rossiter is an outstanding young player, he just needs a bit of time,” Beale told Sky Sports. “I was expecting a big year for him at Rangers but for whatever reason – and he’s had injuries – it hasn’t happened for him.
“But his mentality is unique, in terms of the type of boy he is, the drive he has, the ambition. I expect Jordan to come back and have a very good career.”
Rossiter, who was handed his Liverpool debut by Celtic boss Brendan Rodgers, is under contract at Rangers until 2020.
