The Glasgow Rangers midfielder has the potential to take Ibrox by storm if he is given a chance.
In a recent interview published by Sky Sports, Rangers manager Pedro Caixinha explained how the club’s forgotten midfielder Jordan Rossiter could be like a new signing next season.
However, the 20-year-old would be forgiven for casting wary glances at the rumour mill this summer, hoping Rangers do not significantly strengthen an area of the field where he will be hoping to do his best work next season and beyond.
There is no doubt Rossiter has the potential to excel in Scotland, but Caixinha may be wary to put all his faith in a youngster who has been side-lined for almost the entire campaign, especially when some of his fellow midfielders have either under-performed or will leave at the end of their loan spells.
That is likely to see Rangers move for additional reinforcements if the right players become available, and Rossiter will be hoping he hits the ground running in pre-season and helps make Caixinha’s mind up for him before he makes any late moves in the transfer window.
Some Liverpool fans were up in arms when Rossiter left Anfield for Ibrox, and it is now up to the player to justify his hype.
Caixinha will think he knows what type of player the youngster is, but performing week in, week out is another matter entirely and Rossiter must set about rewarding the Gers manager’s faith as soon as possible.
