Glasgow Rangers were knocked out of the Europa League in the first qualifying round as the Luxembourg minnows overturned a defeat at Ibrox.
Jordan Rossiter has told Rangers’ official website that he cannot make any excuses for the Gers’ defeat to Progres in the first qualifying round of the Europa League, before issuing an apology to the club’s supporters.
The Light Blues’ long-awaited return to European competition lasted all of two games as the Luxembourg minnows won 2-0 in the second-leg to overturn the 1-0 defeat they recently suffered at Ibrox.

After the game, there was plenty of – understandable – anger directed from the travelling fans towards Pedro Caixinha and his players, and Rossiter could not deny that the criticism and the frustration was entirely justified.
“It is massively disappointing, I cannot apologise to the fans enough, we simply weren’t good enough tonight and all the lads know that,” he told the club’s official website.
“I can stand here and say we were unlucky with this or that but listen we weren’t unlucky we simply weren’t good enough on the night.
“We did a lot of things wrong tonight. It is easy for me to sit here and say we weren’t good at this or that but at the end of the day we are out of the Europa League in the first qualifying round.”

While the defeat appears to be one of, if not the most humiliating losses in the club’s history, Caixinha will be looking to use it to inspire a positive reaction amongst his squad.
Rangers will be under absolutely no illusions just how hard they will need to work in the coming weeks to get themselves ready for the Scottish Premiership season, and the Gers fans will be hoping that the side use the humiliation in the same way that Celtic used the astonishing defeat to Lincoln Red Imps last year.
