The Rangers midfielder was stopped in his tracks by Steven Gerrard, his manager at Ibrox.

Jordan Rossiter was bullishly interrupted by Steven Gerrard as the Rangers manager sought to reiterate his earlier warning to the Ibrox side’s under-performing players.
Gerrard vowed after Sunday’s Scottish League Cup semi-final defeat that those at Rangers who consistently fail to perform when on the big stage will be replaced in future transfer windows.
And after being asked at a press conference [broadcast via the club’s official Youtube channel on Monday] what effect those comments might have on Rangers’ squad members – be it motivational or other – Rossiter was stopped quickly in his tracks by Gerrard.
“I’ll answer that,” replied the Rangers manager. “It’s a warning.
“It’s for me that [question], not him. He’s been injured for two years.
“At a big club, you expect big players to step up on big occasions and provide big moments. If that doesn’t happen, at any big club, the manager and the recruitment [team] they find better players or players who will do that.”
On whether he has specific targets in mind, Gerrard said earlier: “I’m not going to tell you that, am I?
“I don’t think any manager will tell you who their potential targets are or who they’re scouting.

“But I think this club has had scouts in from day one and will always have scouts in because it’s a club that’s always searching to improve and tweak, because we want to be competitive on all fronts.
“We will always have scouts moving forward, and a recruitment (team) that we’ve got every confidence in, that have done exceptionally well in the three or four months that I’ve been here. Because we are better, we have improve, we are moving forward. So, I think the people in the scouting department and recruitment deserve a lot of praise.”
Gerrard oversaw the recruitment of 15 new players, on both permanent and loan deals, in his first transfer window in charge of Rangers, and allowed 25 to leave.
Rangers are currently fifth in the Scottish Premiership standings, but have enjoyed success on the continent, where they have yet to lose any of their 11 games this season.
