Jordan Rhodes has suggested that the international break has probably come at a good time for Sheffield Wednesday given their recent form, the Yorkshire Post reports.
Carlos Carvalhal’s men may be sixth in the Championship currently but their current form has seen them somewhat cut adrift of the top five and has given the chasing pack plenty of optimism about their own chances of breaking into the play-off places in the division.
The Owls have lost four of their last six to sit just one point ahead of Fulham in seventh, and Rhodes has suggested that that disappointment may mean that the break will actually prove beneficial to the Wednesday squad.
“It is a two-week break now (from the Championship) and whether that is welcome or not, it is what it is. There is no getting round it,” he said, as reported by the Yorkshire Post.

“I guess the break will be a time to reflect and dust ourselves down. Get rid of whatever bumps and bruises we do have. Then, the squad can regroup and be ready to come out of the blocks against Barnsley (on April 1) in a local derby.”
With two Yorkshire derbies ahead in their first games back, swiftly followed by a home game against current leaders Newcastle, the Owls will surely have absolutely no problem finding the motivation they need to get themselves back on track.

And if they manage to hold onto their top six spot by picking up a few wins before the regular season ends, they will know all too well how little their form before the international break will actually matter.
Having momentum going into the play-offs is arguably much more important than what position a team finishes in as Wednesday proved last year by knocking Brighton, who were denied automatic-promotion on the final day, out in the semi-final.
