Rangers winger Jordan Jones has told The Scottish Sun that it’s ‘obvious that he wants to be at Ibrox amid speculation over his future.

Jones was a surprise starter against Motherwell on Sunday, with Steven Gerrard giving him a rare start after a substitute role against Willem II.

The 25-year-old took his chance brilliantly, as he raced on to Scott Arfield’s first half pass to fire in Rangers’ second goal in a 5-1 win.

Jones was a constant threat with his pace, and this was arguably the most impressive he has looked since arriving from Kilmarnock in the summer of 2019.

The Northern Irishman is wanted by the likes of Barnsley, Blackburn Rovers, Middlesbrough, Preston North End, Queens Park Rangers and Stoke City according to TEAMtalk, meaning his future is a little unclear.

Having impressed on Sunday, Jones may now end up staying at Ibrox – and he has commented on his situation at Ibrox.

Jones has suggested that it’s now ‘obvious’ to everybody that he wants to be a Rangers player, but he did fear that he would have to leave the club in search of first-team football.

The winger added that he has had to be mentally strong at Rangers, but now hopes to kick on and show why Gerrard brought him to Ibrox in the first place.

“It’s obvious to everyone that this is where I want to be,” said Jones. “But if I’m being honest, I did fear that things weren’t going to change for me. Some weeks it’s hard to see if you are ever going to get a chance again — but you just have to keep going. You train every day and hope that something happens for you.”

“It’s hard to complain when the team is performing as it is and picking up points like it is. You have to make sure you are as ready as you can be and hope you get the shout. You have to be mentally strong and I feel that I am a lot better at things like that now. There’s no going in moods and sulking around the place. You’re at a massive club and you have got to be grateful for the opportunity when you do get it. And when you do get that chance, you’ve got to make the most of it,” he added.
