Jordan Jones has taken to Twitter to congratulate Charlie Wyke after the striker completed his move from Bradford City to Sunderland this week.

Wyke has become Jack Ross’ second striker signing of the summer after following Jerome Sinclair through the Stadium of Light door just a couple of days before the Black Cats begin life in League One with a clash with Charlton Athletic this weekend.

And after completing the move, Wyke received a message from Kilmarnock winger Jones on social media, with the 23-year-old expressing his delight for the forward. Here is the message Jones sent Wyke…

It may have surprised some that Jones has messaged Wyke in the wake of his move, but the pair have been teammates in the past, with both men coming through the ranks at Middlesbrough before getting their senior careers up and running elsewhere.

But despite their connection, the fact that Jones has tweeted Wyke may well lead to plenty of tongue in cheek comments from the Sunderland supporters given that Jones himself is reportedly on Ross’ radar this summer.

The Daily Mail reported towards the end of last month that Sunderland were in talks with Killie over a potential deal for Northern Ireland international, and it would be little surprise if many Black Cats supporters were now urging Jones to follow in Wyke’s footsteps and make the same move this summer.
