In comments reported by the Daily Record, Jordan Jones has insisted that he is not going to be joining Rangers until the summer, and admitted that he made a mistake after tweeting about his Ibrox move.

Jones is one of four players that have agreed terms with the Gers this month, with the Northern Ireland international, along with Glen Kamara, signing a pre-contract deal with his Kilmarnock contract expiring.

With the Daily Record reporting that Rangers are working on a January move for Kamara, some may have wondered whether they could target a similar deal for Jones.

However, the winger – who incurred the wrath of the Killie fans by tweeting about his move soon after it was confirmed – insisted that he is not going anywhere until the summer and also commented on his social media post.

“I’m fully committed to Kilmarnock until the summer. I won’t leave in this window,” he said, as reported by the Daily Record. “Everyone has an opinion in football and they are maybe a bit upset in way it was done but my team-mates and gaffer know how committed it is.

“I need to show to the fans. Looking back at the tweet I was over excited and it was a bit of inexperience but I can’t take it back. I can only win them back with performances.”

Jones is going to be in a strange situation over the coming months. Kilmarnock are only one point back of top spot in the Premiership, so he could have a major say on where the title goes this year.

Interestingly, Steve Clarke’s side’s first league game following the mid-season break is against Rangers, so there is perhaps no better opportunity for the wide-man to prove that he is fully focused on his current club until the end of the season.
