Rangers have taken a huge step towards the next round of the Europa League qualifiers after beating St Joseph’s 4-0 on Tuesday evening.

The Gers headed off to Gibraltar to take on St Joseph’s in a game they were thoroughly expected to win, but with the score 0-0 at half time, Steven Gerrard was looking for his side to step it up after the break.

They did just that, as they quickly opened the scoring through Ryan Jack, volleying home Borna Barisic’s cross, before Sheyi Ojo scored a fine second.

Bariisc added the third from a free kick, before Alfredo Morelos came off the bench to add a fourth, giving Rangers an almost unassailable lead for the second leg.

Rangers were superb in the second half and simply blew St Joseph’s away, and players took to Twitter after the final whistle to react to the victory.

Winger Jordan Jones sent a particularly heartfelt message, admitting that he was ‘proud’ to have made his competitive debut for the team many of his family members support.

Fellow new boy Ojo joined in the celebrations as he enjoyed his goal and the win, with James Tavernier and Andy Firth also sending messages.

Fans will be hoping to see much more of Jones and Ojo, who started in Gibraltar, as they attempt to ensure that they’re the first choice wingers for this season.
