Jordan Jones has told the Daily Record that he is looking forward to play alongside Steven Davis for both club and country as he labelled his new Rangers teammate an unbelievable player.

Having signed for the Gers during the January transfer window, Jones can finally focus on his future at Ibrox with his Kilmarnock contract coming to an end.

The supporters will be intrigued to see how he handles the transition from Rugby Park to Ibrox. But having a familiar face around should certainly make it easier for the winger, with Davis a player he already knows well from his time with Northern Ireland.

And as he prepares to link up with the veteran as part of Steven Gerrard’s side, Jones suggested that he is the perfect player to follow and look to emulate.

“That is another positive. Everyone knows what a top professional Steven is and he is an unbelievable player,” he told the Record.

“He’s had a brilliant career and I have no doubt he has plenty left to give for club and country. I’m looking forward to playing alongside him for both.”

Like Jones, Davis also signed in January. However, he initially joined on loan before signing a permanent deal at the end of the season. And given how he finished the campaign, it appears that it could be an inspired piece of business from Gerrard’s men to get Davis back.

Rangers manager Steven Gerrard is seen during the Scottish Premier League match between Rangers and Hibernian at Ibrox Stadium on May 05, 2019 in Glasgow, Scotland.

The midfielder perhaps started slowly following his arrival from Southampton. But he soon reminded the supporters of his quality as the campaign continued, and he looks set to be a key player next season.

And Jones will be hoping to be just as shrewd a signing now that he is finally through the door at Ibrox.
