Sunderland midfielder Jordan Hunter was handed just one appearance for Jack Ross’s side’s first-team last season.

Hunter has struggled for game time at Sunderland since joining last summer.
The 19-year-old only played once for Jack Ross’ side last term, with most his performances coming at under-23 level.
Hunter doesn’t mind playing for Sunderland’s development side, but he feels he would be better served by going out on loan.
And Hunter is hoping Ross gives him the chance to earn first-team experience next season.

“Depending what happens to me in pre-season I’d like to go out on loan because I think managers like to see more experience in a player,” Hunter said.
“If not I’ll push on with the (under-)23s and hopefully get another chance with the first team.
“I’ve never been out on loan but I know lads all over the place who have. They love being on loan because a 23s environment and a first team are totally different so they say if I get the chance I should get myself straight out. They do enjoy being out on loan and do tell me how much more difficult it is physically and the environment.”
Ross has handed Sunderland’s youngsters the chance to go out on loan this term, with plenty of promising prospects heading out to Football League and non-league sides.
The likes of Max Stryek and Elliot Embleton were both loaned out by Sunderland last term and were successful on their temporary moves.
