It’s been an indifferent season for Liverpool, but there have still been a few standout performers for the Reds.
Last season, every single Liverpool player was on top of their game, but the man who won their Player of the Year award was Jordan Henderson.
It seems as though Henderson won’t retain his crown this term after a season blighted by injury where he was often played out of position, so who will win Liverpool’s Player of the Year award this term?
Well, there are a few players who have reasonable claims to be Liverpool’s Player of the Year.
Andy Robertson has played almost every minute for the Reds this term, putting in solid performances on a weekly basis.
Diogo Jota has been a revelation since joining, and he’s injected something fresh into the Reds’ attack, while someone like Georginio Wijnaldum would also be a contender for this award.
However, we can’t look past Mohamed Salah as Liverpool’s Player of the Year this season.
Salah’s brilliance is something we’ve all become accustomed to in recent years, but if you take a step back and look at what he’s done, you’ll see that he’s been amongst the league’s best, nevermind Liverpool’s best.
He’s currently the joint-top scorer in the Premier League, and he could very well earn his third Golden Boot award this term, and in a season where the Reds’ front three have come under a lot of scrutiny, he’s been one consistent performer.
Picking Salah for this award isn’t an exciting choice, nor is it one that will raise any eyebrows, but it is the right pick, and it has to be said that he deserves to win his second Player of the Year award at Anfield.
