Liverpool have now opened up a six-point lead at the top of the Premier League table following their win against Tottenham Hotspur.
Jordan Henderson has stated in a brutally honest fashion that he thought it was his fault when Liverpool conceded inside the first minute of their 2-1 win against Tottenham on Sunday afternoon.
Harry Kane headed Spurs ahead inside the first minute when Heung-Min Son’s deflected shot hit the post before the England captain kept himself onside and headed the ball into the back of the net on the rebound.
But that didn’t faze Liverpool, who were relentless in attack, as Henderson made amends for his error by levelling the scores after the break before Mo Salah converted from the spot.
Speaking to Sky Sports Premier League (27/10/19 at 18:40 pm), Henderson admitted that Kane’s goal was his mistake, but he kept calm because he knew there was still a lot of game time to be played.
“I’m thinking it’s my fault,” Henderson told Sky Sports. “I gave the ball away so I was disappointed but I thought there is still a lot of time left to play.
“Just keep doing what we have been doing for the majority of the season. Keep working and thankfully I managed to get a goal to make up for it a little bit. Delighted with the performance and the three points.”
As mentioned, Liverpool continued in their relentless ways against Spurs as they have now opened up a six-point lead over second-placed Manchester City in the table.
Added with that, they are showcasing that they can put any team away, even if they are behind, they are still unbeaten in the Premier League, as it all sets it up nicely for their showdown against Man City next month.
More than likely that gap will be six points or around that mark when Liverpool take on Pep Guardiola’s side before the international break, as the game is going to be huge in the title race.
