Jordan Henderson was delighted on Instagram as Liverpool progressed through to the quarter-finals of the Champions League.
The Reds captain missed the encounter through injury and he wrote on his Instagram story ‘Well done lads. On to the quarters we go’.
In the Premier League, Liverpool are getting whacked from every corner, but in Europe, they are showing their true self.
And that was proven on Wednesday night, as Jurgen Klopp’s men dispatched RB Leipzig 2-0 to win the second-leg encounter and win 4-0 over both legs.
What will delight the Anfield faithful is that both Sadio Mane and Mohamed Salah got on the scoresheet – transcending that onto the domestic scene would do the club wonders.
Not forgetting the clean sheet that has been credited into the bank, especially the performance of Nat Phillips, who was outstanding in Budapest.
Liverpool’s trophies under Jurgen Klopp
- Champions League
2018/19
- UEFA Super Cup
2019
- FIFA Club World Cup
2019
- Premier League
2019/20
There is a fear that the Reds might not secure a top-four finish this term, and if that were to come true then putting a seventh European Cup into their cabinet will be needed.
Liverpool’s engine hasn’t been firing as well as it has been compared to recent years, so if Klopp achieves that feat once more then it could be argued that it’s his greatest achievement since he stepped foot onto Merseyside.
Either way, Klopp will be sleeping much better on the flight home tonight.
