Jordan Henderson, John Terry and Emiliano Martinez were just some players to react on Instagram to Conor Hourihane leaving Aston Villa.

Before the transfer window can slam shut on Tuesday evening, Hourihane has swapped Villa colours for those of Sheffield United.

The 30-year-old, who has fallen down the midfield pecking order in the Midlands, has secured a loan deal with the Blades.

For the second season running, the Irishman will be plying his trade in England’s top-flight after his loan spell at Swansea City last season.

Hourihane expressed on Instagram that he is ‘delighted’ with the move and he can’t wait to get going after the international break.

Liverpool midfielder Henderson wrote in the comments section: “Good luck mate.”

Whilst his fellow Villa teammate, Martinez, added: “All the best.” and John Terry wished him “Good luck.”

It’s the right move for Hourihane because he wouldn’t have earned the desire minutes under Dean Smith this season.

It seems as though several players are ahead of him in B6, including teenager Carney Chukwuemeka, who started against Brentford last week and produced an outstanding performance.

From Sheffield United’s perspective, Hourihane’s arrival is much-needed because that squad needs a lift and requires some refreshment.

Following their relegation last season, they are still yet to win a Championship game after five matches and Hourihane will be hoping his past experiences helps lift the mood at Bramall Lane.
