Jordan Henderson has wished Marko Grujic the best of luck on Instagram after he departed Liverpool for a season-long loan switch to Porto.

The 24-year-old did feature in two League Cup games for Liverpool this season, but given the quality of depth Jurgen Klopp has at his disposal in the middle of the park, it was going to be difficult for him to even sit on the bench.

After that move to Portugal was finalised, Grujic sent this message on his Instagram account and the Liverpool captain responded by simply saying: ‘Good luck mate’. Others such as Rhys Williams and Nat Phillips also sent similar messages.

For Grujic now, it’s simply a case of trying to find a regular home where he can try to establish himself because it’s pretty clear that his future at Anfield looks bleak.

The good news for Grujic is that he will compete in the Champions League this season and come up against a certain Manchester City.

Liverpool supporters will be tuned in for those contests because if the attack-minded midfielder can have an impact then those in Manchester will hear from those on Merseyside.

But overall, for Grujic it’s about now proving his worth and potentially sealing a permanent move away from Liverpool because his best years are still ahead of him.
