Jordan Henderson was part of a Liverpool midfield that would have been disappointed to leave St Mary’s with just the one point on Saturday afternoon. However, the England man reached a personal milestone that is worth covering.

Jurgen Klopp’s side had been in excellent form heading into the match, convincingly dispatching opponents to head to the top of the Premier League, but that came to an end with the 0-0 result.

Reds captain Henderson attempted his 1000th pass of the league season during the match, a figure that has him way ahead of anyone else in the division.

The 26-year-old has been a vital cog in the middle of Liverpool’s team this season, and he has now completed 878 from 1001 passes for the Merseyside giants – way above anyone else in both attempted passes and completed passes, as seen in the table above.

Manchester City midfielder Fernandinho is the next highest passer, but he is over 100 accurate passes behind the former Sunderland player.

Henderson’s number of accurate passes per match is way in front of any other player in the Premier League too, not surprising given his strong passing accuracy.

It is clear that whatever success Liverpool enjoy this season, Henderson will be a central to it – just as a captain should be.
