The Liverpool duo are currently fighting back from long term injuries.
Liverpool’s Jordan Henderson celebrates after the match
Liverpool captain Jordan Henderson has hailed injured Joe Gomez and Danny Ings as inspirations to the club’s official website.
Both players are currently fighting their way back to fitness after picking up injuries last year.
The pair sustained anterior cruciate ligament damage in the same week last October, just days after Jurgen Klopp had been named as manager.
The Reds were disappointed to lose the duo, who had impressed at the club since joining in that summer transfer window.

They are both nearing a return to the first team setup at this moment in time and Henderson says both have impressed the Liverpool squad.
“Two of the lads who stand out at this moment, for all the right reasons, are Danny Ings and Joe Gomez,” he told the club’s official website.
“Their reputations with their teammates could not be any higher than they are now. The word ‘inspiration’ is probably thrown around too easily but when it comes to these two, it actually doesn’t say nearly enough.”
Liverpool’s Danny Ings
It remains to be seen what role that both players have to play in the Liverpool first team moving forward.
Gomez has a serious chance of being a regular, especially with their defence continuing to fail to impress despite Klopp’s efforts to solve that particular problem.
Ings, meanwhile, faces a serious challenge to get minutes, with the Reds currently blessed with talent in that department.
Having fought back from these serious injuries, though, it seems unlikely either will be giving up their chance at Anfield without a fight regardless.
