Liverpool captain Jordan Henderson has shared the message that manager Jurgen Klopp gave them at half-time in the win over Swansea City in an interview with the club’s official website.

The Reds found themselves one goal down at half-time at the Liberty Stadium on Saturday afternoon after Leroy Fer had fired the Swans ahead.

It was a disappointing 45 minutes from Klopp’s side in general as they failed to show any of the qualities that have been key to their strong start to the season.

However they turned things around in the second half as a goal from Roberto Firmino and a penalty from James Milner saw them take all three points.

It required a half-time team talk from their manager to turn things around, though, according to their captain.

“Obviously, he had a few words to say because it wasn’t good enough, especially the first half an hour,” he told the club’s official website.

“The standards we’ve set, we just didn’t match them. We came in at half-time and he [Klopp] had a few words to say, but credit to the lads we responded and the second half we played well.”

The result leaves Liverpool in a strong position as the season heads into its second international break.

They are currently second in the table with 16 points from their first seven games, although that position could change with Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur playing on Sunday.

The furthest they can fall will be fifth, though, which at this stage of the season is a superb place to be in for a team looking to secure Champions League football.
