The Liverpool forward is widely considered to be one of the best in the game.
Jordan Henderson raved about the quality of Mohamed Salah, when writing his programme notes before tonight’s Champions League clash with Porto, suggesting that the Egyptian’s goal tally since moving to Anfield has been ‘genuinely staggering’, as quoted by the Liverpool Echo.
Salah, 26, joined the Reds from Roma in the summer of 2017, for a fee believed to be worth £34 million, and he has gone on to bag 65 goals in 95 appearances in all competitions for Jürgen Klopp’s side thus far.
The Liverpool forward hasn’t been quite as clinical this season, netting just 21 goals, but that is still a perfectly reasonable tally for someone who is far from an out-and-out striker.
And Henderson highlighted how Salah’s goal return since joining the Reds really should be cause for celebration, as quoted by the Liverpool Echo:
“I think I’m right in saying he’s bagged 21 goals this season, which by the way is absolutely massive coming on the back of what he achieved last season,” Henderson says in his pre-match programme notes ahead of Tuesday night’s visit from Porto. That’s 65 goals for us overall in almost two seasons – a genuinely staggering figure. Throw in the number of assists too and it tells you everything about what he brings to this team.”
Liverpool have every chance of winning both the Premier League title and the Champions League this season, and if Salah can finish the season in fine form, there is no reason why Klopp’s men cannot go on to achieve what would be a historic double.
