The Wolves winger was sold by Lambert at Aston Villa.

Paul Lambert has recently been appointed as the new manager of Championship side Wolverhampton Wanderers.

He replaces Walter Zenga at Molineux, after he struggled to find consistent form at Wolves.

Lambert will be working with a former player of his at Aston Villa at his new club. Jordan Graham spent 13 years at Aston Villa but never managed to cement himself a place in the first-team at the club.

He never played for Villa under Paul Lambert and was sold by his new Wolves boss just one month before he left Villa Park.

In fact, he spoke about Lambert in the summer. He had this to say about meeting his old mentor when Wolves faced Blackburn Rovers last season to the Express and Star:

“But there were a few of us – Samir Carruthers, Daniel Johnson and myself, who the fans were saying we should have been given a go.

“We weren’t, and now we’ve gone elsewhere and done well (Carruthers is at MK Dons and Johnson at Preston) and proved people wrong.

“I saw Paul Lambert (his old boss at Villa Park) for the Blackburn game at Molineux and said he was really pleased I’d make an impact. And he said he was happy I wasn’t playing for Wolves on the day.

“It was good to hear from someone who wasn’t 100 per cent sure I wasn’t going to go all the way.

“Things like that please me and give me that drive to do more.”

Graham has proven himself a brilliant talent at Wolves and will want to prove himself to Lambert when he gets the opportunity.

Unfortunately, that may not be for a while. He is currently out of action at Wolves with a long-term knee injury which required further surgery last month.

It will no doubt be interesting to see how much Lambert gives Graham a chance on this occasion.
