The Leeds United winger scored on international duty and the club’s new manager will be looking to effectively utilise him next season.
Leeds United winger Jordan Botaka has taken to Twitter to celebrate scoring in DR Congo’s 6-1 victory against Madagascar this weekend.
The 22-year-old had a tough start to life at Elland Road, quickly falling out of favour under former manager Steve Evans despite possessing an impressive box of tricks.
The problem was a lack of end product; something Evans quickly focused on, dropping Botaka from the Leeds first-team. But by the end of the season the former Excelsior player had forced his way back into contention and looked considerably better than before.

His season has been extended by his international duty and he played his part in DR Congo’s emphatic Africa Cup of Nations qualifying victory on Sunday afternoon.
Writing on social media after the match, the Leeds player said, “Very happy with our 6-1 victory and my goal today. Thank God.”
That concludes Botaka’s action for the summer and he will now have a holiday before setting about impressing new Leeds manager Garry Monk during pre-season.
All the Whites players will be desperate to impress the new boss and it will be interesting to see if Botaka takes everything learned under Evans and performs consistently from here on.
