Jordan Ayew has told the Daily Mail that he never enjoyed his football at Aston Villa.
Ayew left Villa during the January transfer window to join Swansea City, after Steve Bruce’s side decided to cash in on the Ghanian international.
The 25-year-old admits that he never found his top form at Villa, and he is hoping that a move to Swansea will give him a new lease of life.
“Last year I wasn’t consistent. Why? I don’t know, maybe because of the situation,” Ayew said. “But now I’m coming into a team where I feel the confidence from the club, the coach and the players.
“I have not really enjoyed my football for the last 18 months. But Swansea have given me the chance to come here and I just want to do my best.”
Ayew played for Villa at a time when the claret and blues have struggled to pick up results, regardless of what division they were in.
Ayew was arguably Villa’s best player last season, as they were relegated from the Premier League in highly disappointing circumstances.
However, the attacker was disappointing over the first part of this campaign, as he failed to have as much of an impact as anticipated in the second tier.
Ayew scored just twice in 21 Championship appearances this season, before moving to Swansea.
Ayew is still yet to make his debut for Swansea, but he could feature later today against Leicester City.
